For the last three months I have been painting in my home studio. Although I have completed a couple of my typical seascapes,  I have also been gaining inspiration from local scenes within easy walking distance of my front door. Daylight Savings Time

We set the clocks back last Sunday – actually they mostly reset themselves. I have been lucky enough to travel to Big Sur, Marin County, New York City, Mystic Seaport (CT) and beautiful Zion National Park in Southern Utah . . . all in the last six weeks. Retirement is awesome! Now I need to get busy and paint.

This summer I made a few paintings closer to my home in Chula Vista. They are currently being shown as part of a local plein air show at the Bonita Valley Museum. Of course, I also went to La Jolla, partially to escape the midsummer heat.

my endless summer

After 32 years of teaching in public high schools near the San Diego-Tijuana border, I have finally retired. It was a rewarding career and I will miss my students, but now I will be able to paint whenever I want. I am really looking forward to owning the time instead of owing it!
