In the last couple of weeks I made four impasto-style paintings. I used palette knives instead of brushes and applied the paint in thick layers, trying to avoid too much detail. It was a lot of fun and I plan to do more of them soon.

I completed several paintings this fall, including a view of the century-old California Tower in Balboa Park. I was walking across the Laurel Street Bridge in the early morning just as the sun came out from behind clouds and sent the dramatic shadows of the eucalyptus trees sweeping across the road ahead of me. I feel like it is one of my best works to date and a sign that I am still growing as a painter.
