I am working on a series of "offshore" paintings based on photos taken from a boat. These happen to be from the same day – July 4th, 2014 – when La Jolla Cove was closed for the fireworks show, creating a rare scene where the popular beach was empty of people in mid-afternoon.
"Floating on the 4th" Oil on canvas. 18 x 36 inches SOLD!
"Goldfish Point" Oil on canvas. 18 x 36 inches SOLD!
Here are a couple of oil paintings I did after spending some time painting with John Comer, one of my favorite California landscape artists. He helped me with my technique and introduced some new colors to my palette.
"Labor Day at Children's Pool" Oil on canvas. 18 x 24 inches SOLD!
"The Pink Lady" Oil on canvas. 18 x 24 inches SOLD!
"December Aloe, La Jolla Cove" Acrylic on canvas. 30 x 40 inches Available
"April Bloom at Children's Cove" Acrylic on canvas. 18 x 24 inches SOLD!
"Waves at Shell Beach" Acrylic on canvas. 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
This summer has started with a bang! I sold ten paintings in the first two weeks and have commissions for a couple more. Most of the action has been in La Jolla where I paint regularly on location (see Plein Air for more . . .)
"The Bather" Acrylic on canvas. 20 x 24 inches SOLD!
"Wipeout Beach from the Wedding Bowl" Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
"Memorial Day" Acyrlic on canvas. 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
These paintings were completed in the studio with the aid of photographs taken in the field. My favorite subjects are California beaches, Southwestern landscapes, and dramatic cloud patterns. People, dogs, horses, birds and cows will also sometimes appear.
