I have been taking my oil paints outside lately. I find they are easier to work with than I thought, despite the problem of thinners and long drying times. Here are a couple of recent attempts at plein air oils.
"Winter Aloes at the Wedding Bowl" Oil on board. 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
"Shadows at Boomers" Oil on board. 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
"Blue Shadows at Wipeout Beach" Oil on board. 12 x 16 inches SOLD!
"Shell Beach Overlook" Oil on panel. 11 x 14 inches SOLD!
I have discovered the joys of painting outdoors in natural light. This kind of painting forces me to both observe and experience nature more intimately, plus I am more likely to meet people who share a common love of art and the environment we all share.
